Energy Cent$ is an energy conservation program intended to assess the high energy costs experienced in Southeast Alaska with emphasis in the extremely high energy cost communities. Our main objective will be to reduce household energy consumption through energy conservation education and installing of energy upgrades.
The Energy CentS program has completed the first round of 400 home energy assessments and is now compiling the data to analyze and identify household energy needs on a community by community basis. The purpose of the home energy assessments was to gather valuable household data and identify potential solutions to energy costs for southeast residents. Once the data is gathered, THRHA will seek out additional energy solutions and apply for funding to assist residents with their household energy demands.
This project is funded through a Tribal Department of Energy grant and is intended to be complimentary to the weatherization program.
Project deliverables include but are not limited to:
- 28 crew members (home energy consumption assessors) trained to conduct home energy conservation assessments
- 400 home energy usage assessments completed
- 13 community meetings / Energy Fairs
- 400 tenants and multiple community members receive energy efficiency and energy demand reduction education and training
